Storing You Car For The Long Run

You love your car and if possible you could live in it; who needs a home when you have that kind of a sweet ride?  You take good care of your car and clean it every day and maintain it well.  Everything about this car has been good. This is the car you had in mind and the guys at privatelfleet.com.au made it all seem so easy and uncomplicated.  But say you are going away a while on business or vacation- how do you plan to store the car? We have some tips for you.

It is not uncommon for people to stop driving their vehicle for a long time. There could be many reasons behind it – like temporary relocation, license suspension, sickness, accessibility of another car and more. But it is important to store the car properly before your car goes to the extended hibernation period. No, the work is not much- there are just a few things that you need to take care of.

The best thing to do would be to store your car indoor; in a cool and dry environment and clean the vehicle thoroughly before storing it. We have seen how vintage cars are maintained – they are older than you imagine but are so clean and shines like a new car.  If you do not have your own personal garage space, you can rent one! Some garages also offer to drive the car from time to tome to keep it in shape; the fees are a little higher but the service helps for sure. Also put a thick cover on your ca so as to cover the entire vehicle properly.

Before you store the car – ensure that all the fluids are fresh and full. A fuel stabilizer per se prevents gasoline breakdown and allows keeping the tank relatively full and keeping out the extra space.  Airspace encourages moisture and rust. Change oil and filter and take out the spark plugs and line the cylinder housings with oil.

Also you will need to take a couple of extra precautions. Start by taking the battery out and clean all the connections. Jack the car up on a jack and add about 10 pounds of pressure to each tire, which prevents flat spots. Before you leave waxing your car will add extra resilience to the paint job. Take the wipers off.

Keep it away from critters and rodents. It is difficult to seal every crack and opening through which a mouse or a squirrel could crawl through but cover the noticeable holes like the tailpipe. Add some mothballs for extra protection.
